JQ Rise represents a transformative development within Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, standing as a beacon of regeneration on the site of a former quarry. This ambitious project, overseen by Prosperity, is set to introduce over 280 modern apartments spread across a striking 24-floor structure. The scheme is a testament to urban renewal, turning an underutilised area into a vibrant residential community. 

Encompassing three distinct blocks with heights spanning four, eight, and 25 storeys, JQ Rise is meticulously designed to foster a sense of community among its residents. The development prioritises green spaces featuring communal gardens that provide a tranquil escape within the urban environment. The mix of one and two-bedroom apartments caters to a diverse range of residents, from young professionals to small families, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive community.

Our contribution to JQ Rise goes beyond traditional engineering, embodying a holistic approach to urban development. Our role was critical in navigating the unique challenges presented by the site's historical use as a quarry. Through meticulous site assessments and innovative design work, we have ensured the project's viability from the ground up.

Multidisciplinary engineering expertise

Our team delivered an extensive suite of services, including but not limited to civil and structural engineering, comprehensive earthworks planning, advanced drainage strategies, detailed flood risk assessments, foundation design, geotechnical engineering, and the design of retaining structures. This multidisciplinary approach guaranteed that all potential challenges were addressed preemptively, ensuring a smooth progression from conception to construction.

Geotechnical expertise

A notable achievement was our solution for the tower's foundation, which is situated over the steep edges of the former quarry. We leveraged our geotechnical expertise to conduct thorough site investigations, resulting in a foundation design that guarantees safety, stability, and longevity.

Innovative engineering techniques

Our innovative use of precast concrete cross-wall construction techniques significantly enhanced the project's efficiency. This method allowed structural components, façades, and fenestration elements to be prefabricated offsite and assembled on location, streamlining the construction process, reducing onsite waste, and shortening the project timeline.
