Kara Street development represents a pioneering project by Salix Homes and Step Places, which has transformed a long-neglected brownfield site in Salford into a vibrant residential community.

This ambitious initiative has successfully delivered over 150 homes, encompassing a diverse range of housing options including social housing, affordable rent, shared ownership, and properties for sale. This inclusive approach ensures that the development caters to a broad spectrum of residents, facilitating the creation of a diverse and cohesive community. 

The project stands as a beacon of regeneration, breathing new life into an area that had remained dormant for over a decade. By introducing a variety of two, three, and four-bedroom houses along with one and two-bedroom apartments, Kara Street not only addresses the urgent need for housing but also prioritises sustainability.

The development is distinguished by its commitment to eco-friendliness, featuring green spaces, cycle storage, and electric car charging points in all properties, thereby promoting a sustainable lifestyle among its residents.

We played a crucial role in successfully realising the Kara Street project, providing a comprehensive suite of engineering and consultancy services. Our involvement was pivotal in addressing the complex challenges associated with developing on land left derelict for over a decade, ensuring the project's viability from an engineering perspective. 

Our contributions spanned the entire project lifecycle. Key services provided included civil and structural engineering, innovative drainage strategies, meticulous earthworks planning, detailed flood risk assessment and mitigation, comprehensive ground investigation and improvement, and advanced water engineering solutions.
