Long Eaton Town Centre
Funded by the UK government, this project is shaping a vibrant, sustainable future for Long Eaton Town Centre.
Key developments include:
- A new central square will provide a gathering place for community events and activities.
- Architectural features, lush greenery, and comfortable seating will enhance the street’s aesthetic appeal.
- Features celebrating the town’s rich furniture-making heritage and the acclaimed local artist Dame Laura Knight will add cultural depth.
The project will improve wayfinding signs and non-motorised user direction signs. The long-term development will also create new visitor attractions in West Park and redevelop key sites like Galaxy Row. This project aims to boost the local economy, attract businesses, and create an accessible, attractive environment for residents and visitors.

BWB's Role
BWB played a pivotal role in the Long Eaton Town Deal, providing crucial expertise across multiple disciplines. Our integrated approach, involving our Advisory and Infrastructure divisions, ensured a cohesive and efficient delivery of key project components.
We worked collaboratively with our supply chain partners to deliver landscaping designs. Working with DSA Architects, we created hard and soft landscaping designs, which created a much-improved area for the local community.
Meaningful public engagement
Our Deetu team led the vital consultation and engagement, ensuring the Long Eaton community's voice was central to the development.
We facilitated meaningful dialogue with the Long Eaton community, ensuring their voices were heard and incorporated into the project's design. This collaborative approach fostered a sense of ownership and ensured the regeneration plans reflected the town's needs and aspirations.
Designing highways for the community
Our highways infrastructure design encompassed everything from drainage and street lighting to geometric and pavement design. This included adherence to BS7533-101 for footways and paved areas, alongside meticulous road markings and traffic sign planning. Our team also supported the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), recommending changes to the existing TRO, and produced drawings to be used in the statutory TRO consultation process
We provided essential HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) assessments and mitigation, enhancing public safety. Our structural engineering expertise ensured robust foundation designs for proposed hardscape features.
Safety first approach
As designers under CDM regulations, we ensured health and safety were embedded into every stage of the project. This included risk assessments, development of comprehensive health and safety plans, and ongoing monitoring to proactively mitigate potential hazards.
We coordinated with all stakeholders, from contractors to clients, ensuring compliance and enabling safety throughout the construction process.
