Our Commitment to Net Zero by 2050 and Near-Term Carbon Reduction Goals

As we celebrate Net Zero Week at BWB Consulting, we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

This ambitious goal is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and our proactive approach to addressing the global challenge of climate change.

Progress and Achievements Since 2019

Since setting our targets and committing to the Pledge to Net Zero, BWB Consulting has made significant strides in reducing our carbon footprint. We are pleased to report the following milestones:

  • 46% Reduction in Like-for-Like Emissions: Compared to our 2019 baseline, we have successfully reduced our like-for-like emissions by 46%. This achievement underscores our commitment to continuous improvement and effective carbon management strategies, focussing mainly on our facilities and movement activities.
  • 30% Reduction in Total Carbon Emissions Per Head: Despite continued growth in both our business and its scope three inventory since 2019, we have achieved a remarkable 30% reduction in total carbon emissions per head. This demonstrates our ability to balance business growth and sustainable practices with growing knowledge and a commitment to transparent reporting.

Our Goals: 2025 and Beyond

Our near-term goal is to reduce our carbon emissions by 30% by 2025. This interim target is a crucial step towards our ultimate objective of net zero by 2050. We are confident that with the continued dedication of our team and the implementation of innovative solutions, we can achieve this milestone.

NET ZERO in design

BWB is not just committed to reducing its own operational carbon footprint, but we are also passionate about ensuring our designs are sustainable now and for the lifetime of a structure or asset. We are well underway with delivering our Sustainable Design Strategy, helping our clients deliver their projects for a greener future.

What can your business start doing to reduce its carbon impact this week?

  • Consider switching to certified green energy tariffs. Look out for REGO certificated tariffs, as these are verified by OFGEM.
  • Start assessing your energy usage – Do you have a smart meter? Do you know where your energy is going?
  • Consider incorporating technology to aid your carbon reduction journey. Could you replace light tubes with LEDs? Invest in small renewables, such as Solar panels.
  • Assess business travel and incentivise green forms of travel- Trains, Electric Vehicles, etc.
  • Reduce waste and recycle as much as possible.
  • Make greener choices in purchased goods and services.
